Game rules
Everything that scores points, where it counts and when it locks.
Values shown are the defaults: each group can set its own.
Picks
For every game, pick who wins: the home team, the away team, or a tie. You can change your mind until kickoff.
Classic mode
1 pt per correct pick, 0 otherwise. It is the default mode of groups, and the only one of the overall standings.
Confidence mode
In a confidence group, you give each of your picks of the week a value from 1 to N (N = number of games that week), each value once. A correct pick scores its value, a wrong one 0: put the big values on the games you are sure about.
A 16-game week: values from 1 to 16, so up to 136 pts in the week.
A new pick gets the smallest free value. Change it whenever you like until the game starts.
A group can change its mode during the season: the change applies from the first week that still has games to pick, and the weeks before keep their mode.
Standings
Overall standings
Every player on the site, picks only and always in classic mode (1 pt per correct pick), even if your group plays with confidence. Bonus, tier list, bracket, Star and Survivor do not count there.
One row per team: if you play in three groups, you have three teams, hence three rows.
Group standings
Picks in the group's mode (classic or confidence), plus the games the group turned on: bonus questions, frozen tier list, bracket, Star and Survivor.
The "This group counts: …" line under each group's standings tells exactly what counts there.
When points are tied
- more bonus points goes first (group standings);
- then whoever saved their last correct pick earliest;
- then team names in alphabetical order.
Bonus
Season-long picks (champion, MVP, best offense…), specific to each group. One answer per question.
Each question has its own value, from 2 pts to 10 pts in the catalogue. Group admins can change it and add their own questions.
Each question locks at its own deadline. Points land once the right answer is known and only count in the group standings.
Tier lists
There are three tier lists; only one scores points.
Live tier list
Computed on its own from the real records of the season. It scores nothing: it is the reference.
NFL standings rank: S = 1 to 4 · A = 5 to 10 · B = 11 to 19 · C = 20 to 26 · D = 27 to 32.
My tier list
Yours, editable any time and visible in your groups. Just for fun: it scores no points.
Frozen tier list
In a group that turns it on, you fill it in before the deadline set by the group, then it is frozen. On the resolution date, each team is compared with the Live tier list:
- Team in the right tier2 pts
- Team one tier away1 pt
- Further away0 pts
Up to 64 pts for a perfect list (32 teams).
Bracket
Before the playoffs, you fill in the whole bracket, game by game up to the Super Bowl. Each correct winner scores by round:
- Wild card (6 games)1 pt
- Divisional round (4 games)2 pts
- Conference championships (2 games)3 pts
- Super Bowl4 pts
Up to 24 pts for a perfect bracket.
It locks at the group's deadline: by default, the kickoff of the first wild-card game.
Star
Every week, in the groups that turn it on, you pick an NFL player (among the positions set by the group). His rank in ESPN fantasy points that week decides:
- 1st of the week3 pts
- 2nd or 3rd1 pt
- Further down0 pts
Players tied on points share the same rank.
Your pick locks at the kickoff of your player's game; until then, you can change it.
Survivor
In the groups that turn it on, you pick one NFL team every week that must win its game. It wins: you move on. It loses: you use a strike, then you're out. Each NFL team can be used only once a season.
No pick = defeat, as soon as the week is over. You can join along the way, but every week you missed counts as a defeat.
Group variants
- Strikes: 0, 1 (default) or 2 failed weeks forgiven before you're out.
- Tie game: depending on the group, you survive (default) or you're out, in both modes.
- Reverse mode: your team must lose, a win counts as a defeat.
- Double weeks: from the chosen week (10 to 18), two teams a week, both must win. A failed week costs a single strike.
- Rebuy: an eliminated player can come back once, until the chosen week (2 to 8), strikes reset; the teams already used stay used.
- Playoff round: a new, separate round over the 4 playoff weeks, every team available again, no strike.
Who wins?
The last one standing wins. If several are still alive after week 18 (or after the Super Bowl), they are co-winners. If everybody is knocked out the same week, the players eliminated that last week are co-winners.
Points in the group standings
- Per week survived1 pt
- Week saved by a strike0 pts
- Winner (shared between co-winners, rounded down)5 pts
Your pick locks at the kickoff of your team's game; until then you can change it. The others only see it once the game has started, but everyone's already played teams are visible.
A change of settings never rewrites the past: it applies to the weeks not settled yet.
Locks
While it is open, change whatever you like. Once locked, nothing moves any more, and only then do the others see your pick.
